Gerald Klaus: From German Roots to High-Performance Innovation
Born in Germany and raised in the world of Volkswagens, Gerald Klaus grew up under the influence of his father, Rolf Klaus—a respected VW performance builder and parts manufacturer. With a split-window Beetle in the garage and a legacy of tuning engines for German enthusiasts, Gerald's path was set early. Armed with a degree in metallurgy and hands-on experience in industrial foundries, Gerald combined his technical expertise with his lifelong passion for Volkswagens to take on an ambitious challenge: designing and manufacturing his own performance cylinder heads. In this episode, we dive deep into the world of Type 4 performance, exploring the science behind metallurgy, cooling, and airflow—and how Gerald's innovative designs address the shortcomings of traditional heads. Whether you're a hardcore VW builder or just love stories of passion meeting engineering, this episode is packed with insights into what makes a great performance head—and the dedication it takes to create one from scratch. www.rosswulf.com use code LTD10 for 10% off parts www.vwtrendsmagazine.com ICON pistons here. www.letstalkdubs.com Go Fund me for shooting victim Jamie Benn

One thing I love about the VW world is there's never a dull moment and there's always something new. For example, the Devon this is the first time I've ever seen this car was at a type three rally meet up in front of ISP West that's when I got to meet Read. Read is the owner of this Devon 295. It's called the Devon 295 because it cost $295 back in the day it was a kit car that was made from multiple different chassis for the ultimate enthusiast that wanted to build their own sports car on this podcast we get into some of the history of the Devon as well as Read's personal history in the VW scene. He's a great guy and this car is even cooler. Like most of us with his life, starting in a Volkswagen that his parents owned and loving the car itself with the pursuit to find something unique. He stumbled across this Devon. It's a very cool car one of the few that has a type three motor in it has a matter fact it's the only one that he knows of the registry is keeping track of some of these, but Bill Devon, who started the company in 1954 wasn't very good at keep records. You could even buy stuff from him up until not long before his passing a true innovator always looking to help the sports car enthusiast DIYer.

The Berlin Buick is hands down one of the nicest full custom VWs That I have personally seen. The build quality is really high. The body models and graphs from other vehicles have been tastefully done the car has a theme that flows from inside to outside. You must see this car to appreciate it don’t overlook the fact it’s got a mid engine nailhead Buick motor in it. This thing is cool all the way through
âBob Ellis is from Manistee Michigan. His home shop Der Vintage Werks has restored & preserved a lot of Volkswagen of Americas collection of air cooled vars. He was also involved with the 1964 Beetle "Max" campaign. There was also some crossover with VW of Canada.
