Chris & Bette Addingtons 1969 Karman Ghia has to be the most custom Karmann Ghia EVER. This car that was miles ahead of anything that people thought was custom. This car has actually been built 5 times. 1st time as a stock rebuild, 2nd time in 1978"Browns Ghia" 3rd time in 1985 as "Crystal Blue Persuasion" 4th time as rodbuster in 1987 and full repaint after car froze in an airplane going to Sweden. Here are several pictures. Some history and mostly detail. This car was built to beat street rods at their own game. And that it did. Here are some pics to enjoy.

Thank you for the trip down Memory Lane. I was a young 16yr old when I joined a small club in Bakersfield, Ca, called VW's unlimited, and Chris and Betty were a part of that club. Then a small group of us broke off and started Cal Volks and within a year that club of fun having, vw building and driving fools was over 100. :-) It is an honor to know Chris and Betty form that time in my life and the lessons learned thru it. I carry them day to day with me. And Rodbuster is such a bad bad machine. ;-)

Believe it or not, my favorite of all the transformations is the original Brown’s Ghia. I fell in love with the car the first time I saw it in the June ‘84 DB & Hot VW magazine. I actually have 2 copies of the mag. Lol. My goal was to build one just like it but never did. If Chris would give me the paint color codes, I would probably now do a tribute ghia of the car since I now have the time and money to do it. Oh and I saw on The Samba where the Rodbuster is for sale if you have a spare $275,000 in your pocket.
